Air Canada into codeshare agreement with SriLankan Airlines

Air Canada recently announced that it has entered into a codeshare agreement with SriLankan Airlines to ease seamless connections between Canada and Sri Lanka.
SriLankan Airlines with this new codeshare agreement will be able expand its global network connecting Hong Kong, Paris, Frankfurt and London to Toronto, St Johns, Calgary, Montreal, Vancouver, Edmonton, Halifax and Ottawa.
Yves Dufresne, Vice-President Alliances or Air Canada, said that the codeshare agreement with improve access to Sri Lanka from Canada, and will provide easy connections to the airline’s European gateways of London, Paris and Frankfurt. Dufresne also said that the travel market between the two countries continues to grow at a double-digit rate, and pointed out that the codeshare agreement will allow the passengers to travel on a single ticket itinerary while availing checked-through baggage as well as other benefits.
G.T. Jeyaseelan, Chief Marketing Officer of SriLankan Airlines, said that a large number of Sri Lankan expatriates live in Canada. “The codeshare agreement between Air Canada and SriLankan Airlines will provide a great opportunity to boost tourism between the two countries as well as open a number of key points for Sri Lankan travelers in Canada,” said Jeyaseelan.
