Dec 27, 2011
Air France recently announced that it will be deploying Airbus A380 aircrafts to serve five destinations this winter. The destinations include New York JFK, Washington DC, Montreal, Dubai and Johannesburg.
The airline said that the number of passengers carried aboard the A380 in 2011 topped the one million mark. The superjumbo Airbus A380 aircrafts joined the Air France fleet in November 2009.
The A380 offers the combined capacity of an Airbus A340 and a Boeing 777. The A380s deployed on routes operated by Air France can accommodate 516 passengers at one time.
According to Air France, A380s deployed on the airline’s routes provide a peaceful and luxurious travel experience for the passengers. The 220 windows and the ambient cabin lighting on the aircrafts are custom designed for crossing time zones and ensuring passengers’ wellbeing.
The A380s have various facilities for the passengers, such as state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment system; six bars on both decks serving refreshments throughout the flight; and in-flight art gallery.
Besides, the environmentally friendly A380s is also the quietest aircraft in its category, generating fewer emissions and burning 20 percent less fuel. The A380s being operated by Air France has been specifically designed paying special attention to the disabled and reduced mobility passengers.
