United Continental to launch daily flights over Hong Kong - Tokyo route

United Continental Holdings Inc., the merger airline of United and Continental recently announced the launch of daily flight service between Hong Kong and Tokyo.  Beginning the service from 31st October 2011, the airline will operate its Boeing B737-800 aircraft over the Hong Kong – Tokyo route.

The airline in a statement said that it will configure the aircraft’s 155 seats into 14 business class seats and 141coach class seats.

The new flights will depart from Hong Kong at 10.30am and will arrive in Tokyo at 03.40pm. The round trip flight will then depart from Tokyo at 05.05pm and will arrive in Hong Kong at 09.15pm.

Before the merger of United and Continental, United Airlines used to operate flights on this route, but had to withdraw due to the scarcity of time slots at Tokyo.

Qatar Airways offers more flights to Rome

The Doha-based carrier, Qatar Airways will increase its flight frequency over the Doha-Rome route from 1st July 2011 until 30th September 2011.

The airline will now serve the city with 11 daily flights, of which a narrow-body Airbus A319 aircraft will operate the three additional services.

The added flights will depart from Doha on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 01.15pm and will arrive in Rome at 06.15pm. The round trip flight will depart from Rome on the same days at 11.35pm and will arrive back in Doha at 05.55 the following day.

Philippine Airlines offers special low fares to Asian destinations

Asiana Airlines increases flight frequency to San Francisco and Seattle

The South Korean flagship carrier, Asiana Airlines will increase its long haul flight service to San Francisco and Seattle. The carrier will now operate seven-times a week flight between Seoul-Incheon and San Francisco, from 25th May 2011.

As per Asiana Airlines the new daily flight service will operate both ways. However, round trip flights that are scheduled to operate from 25th May 2011 till 17th September 2011 will fly until the summer season to United States. The airline will also reschedule the round trip flights between Seoul-Incheon and Chicago from 25th May 2011.

The re-scheduled flights will depart from Seoul at 11.00am instead of 06.50pm on Mondays, Wednesday and Friday and will arrive in Chicago at 09.40am. The round trip flight will then depart from Chicago at 12.00pm instead of 01.00 am and will arrive in Seoul at 04.00pm instead of 05.00am the following day.

The airline will operate its Boeing B777-200ER over the new route and all the flights will be equipped with OZ Quadra Smartium business class products, which were launched last year.

Virgin Australia unveils Virgin Blue’s new look

Virgin Blue’s new Boeing 737-800 and A330 aircrafts were recently unveiled with airline’s new name Virgin Australia.

Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson was on board when the planes departed from Christchurch and Kuala Lumpur to Sydney.

“The new brand, livery, product and service offering will help to transform Virgin Australia into a contemporary dynamic airline with a product to compete with the best worldwide. The airline also expects it to shake up the Australian market on an even larger scale than it did ten year ago. Proving an attractive Business Class offering means we can continue to offer the best value airfares in the sky regardless of which class you fly,” said Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson.

The airline’s Boeing 737-800 aircraft features the new sky interiors, larger overhead lockers, mood lighting and sculpted sidewalls.

As per the statement released by Virgin Australia, the airline will operate its new brand on domestic routes until V Australia and Pacific Blue subsidiaries adopt the new look by the end of this year. Along with this the airline is also planning to upgrade its lounges in Melbourne and Brisbane and is looking ahead to re-launch its frequent flyer program Velocity Rewards this year.
