KLM Uncovers Its Fully-Flat Business Class Seats

KLM has finally revealed the final look of its fully-flat seats to be fitted in its long-haul business class flights. Unveiled at Amsterdam Schiphol airport in an aircraft hanger the airline has chosen to use customized version of BEAerospace's Diamond seats, which are very similar to the one used by United Airlines in its BusinessFirst class.

KLM has decided to first convert its Boeing 747-400s with these new seats. The airline plans to redesign all of their 22 Boeing's with these Fully-flat business class seats by the end of April 2014. With this introduction the business class cabins will have 35 seats, which is seven less than the present seat capacity.

Work on the first Boeing 747-400 will begin in June 2013, and it if all goes well then KLM plans to launch its inaugural flight done with all the new interiors in July 2013. After all the 22 Boeing 747-400s are fitted with these new seats, the airline plans to retrofit all its Boeing 777-200s.

BA Cityflyer Launches Flights to Granada

British Airways subsidiary, BA Cityflyer is all set to start flying to Granada, a popular city in Southern Spain. BA will be using Embraer E190 aircraft and will be operational on this route from July 25, 2013.

Passengers can book air tickets from London city airport to Granada for flights leaving LCY every Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The Thursday flights are however seasonal flights, and will service until August 29, 2013 only.

at present there are no direct flights between London City and Granada and this is the first time that any airlines has started nonstop flights between the two cities.

BA Cityflyer also said that it will very soon increase its flights to Malaga. The airline at present serves the city from London city four times a week, which will be increased to six times weekly. With this news London City passengers are in for a double treat from July 25, as they can now fly nonstop to Granada and enjoy more flights to Malaga.

Onboard food tasting held for Air China North American flights

Air China customers booking air tickets on North American routes will get chance to savor new gourmet food soon onboard their flights. The airline recently conducted an onboard food tasting for its North American flights on March 8, 2013.

The airline has taken this initiative to enhance the flying experience of its customers traveling to North American destinations.

The onboard food tasting was held on a North American flight which saw the participation of gastronomic experts and several passengers. The airline served dozens of Western and Chinese dishes during onboard food tasting session and sought comments and suggestions.

Air China in a statement said that it wants to make sure that it is able to cater to every palate in its First Class and Business Class on select North American routes from Beijing. These routes include New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The airline stated that the dishes would be reflected to the menus onboard during different seasons.

United Airlines revamped New York business class flights begins

United Airlines recently announced the launch of its upgraded PS ‘premium service’ flights that will now connect the east coast of the United States with the country’s west coast.

The airline in a statement said that its revamped business class flights would be shuttling the business fliers between New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

According to United Airlines, the Boeing 757 aircrafts have been revamped and new lie-flat business class seats have been installed. The airline has replaced the worn-out old recliners with the new lie-flat seats in the business class cabins on its Boeing fleet.

Media reports said that United Airlines has rolled out the same BusinessFirst seat on similar lines of Continental’s international-grade Boeing 757 aircrafts.

During the present overhaul of its Boeing 757s the airline has finally dropped the first class from its PS flights. The airline has also for the first time introduced PS economy class on these routes.

Allegiant Air begins Greensboro-FLL service with low fares

Allegiant Air recently announced the launch of its new flights services between Greensboro and Fort Lauderdale. The airline, which is known to offer cheap flights deals often, also announced introductory fares on this new route.

To mark the new Greensboro-Fort Lauderdale service Allegiant Air is offering cheap tickets starting as low as $64.99* one way.

Allegiant Air in a statement said that it would be offering cheap flights on the new route twice weekly. The flights would be operated to/from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Piedmont Triad International Airport.

Andrew C. Levy, President of Allegiant Travel Company, said that the airline is pleased to include Fort Lauderdale on its itinerary and would be offering a convenient and affordable destination option for the natives of Greensboro area.

Levy said that the Greensboro residents are already preferring the nonstop flights services to Orlando and Tampa Bay area, which the airline has been operating for quite some time now.

Denver to Fresno Flights to Be Resumed By Frontier

Frontier Airlines is returning back to Fresno Yosemite airport after six years. In a recent announcement the airline said that it will from May 17 resume its cheap flights service between its hub Denver and Fresno. The airline had discontinued its service to Fresno in June 2007.

The low-cost carrier will operate Airbus 319 aircraft offering 138 seats. To mark the celebration of this service the airline is also offering introductory fares on this route. Passengers can now book flight tickets on this route starting as low as $69* one-way.  The fares remain good for travel up to September 8, 2013.

Back in 2005 Frontier had a good hold on the Fresno market. The airlines saw goo ridership on this route for next few months. However the flight was not as profitable as Frontier wanted it to be and hence, they decided to discontinue the same. Commercial senior vice president for Frontier, Daniel Shurz said that the airline is looking forward for the second inning on this route. And it feels that with their cheap tickets they will be able to lure the Colorado, Oregon and California passengers.

All New Blackberry App Introduced By Virgin Australia

Following the success of its Android and phone apps, Virgin Australia is all set to introduce its BlackBerry app in few days. Like its other two siblings the key features of this app is the ability to noose the lowest Virgin Australia airfares for both domestic and international flights.

Virgin Australia spokesperson confirmed this news and said that this all new app for Blackberry Smartphone’s is set to release on the BlackBerry World on March 25, 2013. He also said that the airline has finished the final testing of this app is excited about its launch.

Apart from finding the regular airline app features like flight status, ability to do your flight check-in, this app will also offer customers to find cheap Virgin Australia air tickets even on its partner airlines such as Delta, Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines and Etihad Airways.

For in-flight entertainment Qantas offers Apple iPads

Qantas, an Australian air carrier recently announced that it will be offering its business class passengers for Apple iPads for in-flight entertainment purposes. At present the iPads will offer passengers with over 200 hours of TV, music and movies. However, in future these Apple devices will offer passengers business apps, digital newspapers and magazine, interactive games etc.

This facility will be offered on business class flights operated by a Boeing 767 with 254 seats flying between Honolulu and Sydney. Sporting a customized interface founded on a particular “Q Streaming” application, the gadgets will get free access to the planes onboard Wi-Fi.

The introduction of this new in-flight entertainment device is part of the refurbishing drive undertaken by Qantas on its Business Class flight between this transcontinental coast-to-coast service. The all new business class section will also adorn with new carpets, curtains, lighting and seat covers.

KLM launches biofuel-operated New York-Amsterdam flights

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines recently announced the launch of its biofuel-operated flights between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Amsterdam Schipol Airport. The move of the airline is aimed at conserving environment as well as drastically cutting costs on jet fuel.

The leading Dutch carrier’s latest biofuel initiative will see the operation of a series of flights between New York JFK and Amsterdam every week. The airline will be using a mixture of traditional kerosene and biofuel to operate flights on this route.

The airline in a statement said that the biofuel-operated flights on this route would be fly every Thursday with the help of a B777-200 aircraft. The aircraft will be emblazoned with the words “We fly on biofuel” to appropriately highlight the airline’s latest initiative.

With the operating of aircrafts on biofuel, it is hoped that the passengers would have enhanced travel options and be able to book cheap flights in the near future.

Lie-Flat Business Class Seats on Domestic flights by United

United Airlines has started offering lie-flat seats to its business class passengers flying on their domestic flights. Carrying forward the rage of lie-flat beds ongoing in the airlines industry, the airline had recently unveiled its Boeing 757-200s fitted with lie-flat seats in its business class section.

The Boeing 757-200s will be functional of United’s Premium Service operational between New York and its hubs namely San Francisco & Los Angeles. These Premium Service business class flights have been given a total new face and design. Features like personalized on-demand in-flight entertainment, USB ports, Wi-Fi connectivity have also been incorporated in these cabins.

United’s all new business class cabins will have 28 personalized cabins, replacing 26 reclining seats and 12 angled lie-flat seats. The first upgraded flight departed from Los Angeles to New York on March 18, 2013. As per the airline, this change has been done keeping in mind the intense competition growing in the American aviation industry and with an intention to offer premium passengers flying ion transcontinental routes something extra to match to their taste.
