Finnair business class offers fully flat beds on long-haul routes

Finland’s national flag carrier Finnair recently announced it is on course to revamp its business class cabins on most of its long-haul international routes.

The airline in a statement recently said that its customers booking business class flights on several of its long-haul routes would now have a new flying experience with spacious and comfortable business class seats.

Finnair revealed that it is replacing the angled lie-flat seats being currently offered on most of its long-haul flights. Instead of the angled lie-flat seats, the customers traveling on business class tickets to various European destinations would now be offered more spacious and comfortable fully flat beds onboard their aircrafts.

Finnair is presently into a codeshare partnership with Australia’s national flag carrier Qantas Airways. The airline would continue to be Qantas Airways codeshare partner until Qantas’ new alliance with Emirates Airline becomes effective from April 1, 2013.

Croatia Airlines resumes air tickets sale on Zagreb-London route

Croatia Airlines recently announced it is resuming the sale of air tickets on its flights between Zagreb and London Gatwick Airport. The airline had planned to stop flying on this route during the current summer schedule, but has now said it will continue to offer flights services as usual.

A top official of Croatia Airlines was quoted in the media reports as saying that though the airline had originally planned to suspend its flights services on Zagreb-London Gatwick route this summer season, but it has now decided to continue with the service. The airline will, however, be curtailing the services on this route and will now twice weekly flights instead of the four flights that were offered in 2012.

The airline further stated that it stands by its earlier decision to suspend flights to Istanbul from Zagreb and Dubrovnik. The airline has also discontinued flights to Podgorica from Zagreb recently.

Croatia Airlines also said that it has cancelled the flights services on Pula-Paris, Pula-Hamburg and Zadar-Paris routes.

LOT Polish Airlines launches 3-day sale of Crazy Fares to Poland

LOT Polish Airlines recently unveiled its special flight deals offering great opportunity to its customers to book cheap tickets to Poland from its U.S. gateways.

The airline has launched a 3-day sale of “Crazy Fares” offering a 20 percent savings on the normal economy class fares. These exclusive low fares are valid for travel starting from April 1 through November 30, 2013.
 
The customers are required to book their air tickets between March 13 and March 15, 2013, in order to avail the travel by cheap flights to various cities in Poland. The fares are available for booking from Chicago and New York JFK.

The airline in a statement said that the flight tickets on this special offer must be booked and ticketed within 24 hours of reservation. The airfares are inclusive of all government fees, airport taxes and fuel surcharges.   

The airline further stated that the tickets booked under “Crazy Fares” offer are non-refundable, and itinerary changes are also not allowed in any case. A Saturday overnight stay is also mandatory.

Business Class resumed on Etihad’s Thiruvananthapuram flights

UAE’s national flag carrier Etihad Airways recently announced it is reintroducing its business class flights between Abu Dhabi and the South Indian city of Thiruvananthapuram.
 
The airline in a statement said that it is redeploying its two-class A320 aircraft on Abu Dhabi-Thiruvananthapuram route. The flights will be operated daily.

According to Etihad Airways, the customers booking business class tickets would be offered 16 Pearl Business Class seats.

The main features of the seats in business class cabins include electronically controlled recline as well as lumbar support, spacious leg and foot rest extensions, a personal in-built seat massager, in-arm meal tables, 10.6-inch touch screens and individual PC power supplies.

Neerja Bhatia, Etihad Airways’ General Manager – India, said that the airline considers Thiruvananthapuram as among the fastest growing cities in the state of Kerala and has been serving as a major business and trade hub.

Bhatia further stated that the airline has so far carried above 450,000 passengers on Abu Dhabi-Thiruvananthapuram route ever since the flight between the two destinations was launched in 2007.

WestJet and Air France sign codeshare agreement

Canada’s leading carrier WestJet recently announced it has signed a codeshare agreement with the French national flag carrier Air France to enable seamless air connectivity to the customers traveling between the two countries.

WestJet in a statement said that the codeshare partnership will enable Air France to offer opportunity to its customers to book air tickets at competitive rates and travel to 10 new destinations in Canada.

According to the airline, the codeshare pact has allowed Air France to place its flight code on select WestJet-operated flights from Toronto to Halifax, Moncton, Saint-John’s, Quebec City, Ottawa, Thuder Bay, Regina, Saskatoon, Edmonton and Vancouver.

Apart from this, Air France has also placed its flight code on WestJet-operated Winniped and Calgary flights for both Montreal and Toronto connections to Air France’s direct flights to Paris.

WestJet revealed that this is its ninth codeshare agreement. The airline also has 21 interline relationships with other carriers.

Lufthansa hastening its new business class retrofit

Germany’s national flag carrier Lufthansa recently announced it is taking effective steps and hastening the retrofit of its new business class cabins.

The airline in a statement said that the new cabins have already been installed on all its recently acquired Boeing 747-8 aircrafts as well as on three Airbus A330 aircrafts, which would be utilized in operating business class flights on international routes.

According to Lufthansa, the existing business class seats would now be replaced on all the existing long-haul aircrafts of the airline. These would be replaced sooner than originally planned.

The airline disclosed that it will invest additional 50 million Euros to convert all its aircrafts by the summer of 2015.

A top official of Lufthansa said that the airline is greatly enthused with the excellent response its new business class has received from its customers. The airline has now therefore decided to speed up the process to retrofit the business class cabins and has allocated an additional 50 million Euros to fulfill this purpose.

Finnair announces intent to join transatlantic joint business

Finland’s national flag carrier Finnair recently announced its willingness to join the transatlantic joint business that has been set up jointly by the American Airlines, British Airways and Iberia.

The three airlines, all of which are members of leading global airline alliance oneworld, jointly established the transatlantic business in October 2010. The announcement by Finnair has been welcomed by the three international carriers and has given them reasons to celebrate, which they have termed it as a key milestone.

Finnair is likely to join the transatlantic joint business after approval later this year. This will also give opportunity to the customers in North America and Europe to book air tickets at competitive prices as well as increased flight options and services. This will also offer them convenient and seamless connections to flights across the Atlantic.

Japan Airlines new Sky Suite on Tokyo-JFK B777 route from May

Japan Airlines recently announced that those booking air tickets for traveling on Tokyo Narita-New York JFK route would get opportunity to avail the new Sky Suite onboard their flights.

The airline in a statement said that the new Sky Suite product would be launched on a B777-300ER aircraft to be operated between Tokyo and New York in early May this year.

According to the airline, the new Sky Suite product has already made its debut on flights to London Heathrow from Tokyo Narita in January 2013.
The airline disclosed that it had earlier initiated a revamp program to reconfigure all classes in its 13-strong B777-300ER fleet operating on international routes in August last year.

The airline’s B777-300ER aircrafts have been reconfigured in four classes – 8 seats in First Class, 49 fully-flat seats in Business Class, 40 seats in Premium Economy and 135 seats in Economy Class.

Japan Airlines is also offering ‘JAL Sky Wi-Fi’ service on select international routes, including Jakarta, Los Angeles, Chicago and New York. The airline has indicated that it will introduce the service on European routes starting from April this year.
