Air France Increases Flights to Abidjan

Air France continues to expand its network in Côte d'Ivoire. The airline recently announced that it is increasing its flight connectivity to Abidjan and now it will operate 10 flights per week between Paris and Abidjan.

Air France also announced that it will soon increase its flights to Libreville, Gabon; Nouakchott, Mauritania and Niamey, Niger. The airline has also increased its flight capacity on Abuja and Port Harcourt routes by introducing Boeing 777-200 aircraft. With this the airline will now be able to offer an additional 270 air tickets, which is nearly 20% more than the present capacity, on these two routes.

Apart from expanding its network and offering more seats, Air France is also improving the services it is offering on its African routes. The airline recently has started offering personalized services to passengers flying on its African routes. Passengers are treated with tailor made service at the airport and during their flight journey.

British Airways Now Flies to Tenerife

British Airways inaugural flight to Tenerife from London Gatwick took to the skies recently. The maiden flight was a chock-a-block with dignitaries, Staff members and customers.

Ricardo Melchior, President of Tenerife said that all the islanders of Tenerife are thrilled with this new service. He further said that this new route will not only be beneficial for the economy of Tenerife but will also offer passengers a new domain to travel, as the Island of Tenerife has lots to offer in regards to leisure and business tourism.

British Airways will operate five weekly flights between Gatwick and Tenerife. Flights will leave from London Gatwick on every Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 710 hours and will land in Tenerife at 1120 hours. Since Tenerife offers both leisure and business travel opportunities, hence BA is offering both economy and business class air tickets on this route.

Etihad Improves Perks for Gold Elite Members

Etihad improves the perks it offers to its Gold Elite members. The airline announced that has decided to offer its top-tier members some additional benefits. Under this enhancement program Gold Elite members choose any other Etihad guest for Etihad Guest Gold 'companion membership'.

Elite passengers regardless of the class they are flying, will now be able to gain access for them along with their companion traveling on the same flight to Diamond First Class Lounge operated by Etihad, at all its network airports. Under the new policy Gold Elite members will now get 25% more tier bonus miles, i.e. they will not get 75% of tier bonus miles.

They will also get guaranteed business class tickets for any destination and date on all Etihad operated flights, provided they book the same at least 48 hours prior the departure time. This benefit is also extended to the fellow companion flying under guest privileges on the same flight as the Gold Elite member.

Frontier Launches Flights to Greensboro in North Carolina

Frontier Airlines recently announced that it will soon launch new nonstop service between Denver and Greensboro. The airline will be adding this new service to North Carolina in their schedule from May 1, 2013.

Frontier spokeswomen said that with the launch of this commercial passenger service, frontier is happy to offer this new nonstop from Denver to Greensboro. She further said with this service people of Greensboro will be able to connect with rest of the U.S. cities with much ease.

In order to celebrate this new route, frontier is offering inaugural cheap flights to passengers. Passengers can now fly between the two cities starting at $129* one-way. Introductory fares are up for grabs until May 1, 2013. Fares valid for travel from May 1 through May 30, 2013. 14-day advance purchase mandatory. Round trip purchase not required.

Oman Air Recognized For Best Business Class Amenity Kit

TravelPlus Airline Amenity Bag Awards honored Oman Air for its business Class amenity kits. The airline was presented ‘most enduring amenity bags’ award by Simon Ward, Editor for TravelPlus magazine. This recognition comes in the wake of Oman Air’s achievement in TravelPlus awards in last two years.

In past TravelPlus awards has commended Oman Air under Best First Class Female Amenity Bag category for 2012 and 2011, and under Best Business Class Unisex Amenity Bag category for 2012.

2013 TravelPlus awards conducted in Hamburg were designed to acknowledge the efforts of those airlines, which have gone an extra mile towards pampering their passengers flying on first and business class tickets.

Icelandair Announces Flights to Newark International Airport

Icelandair announced its plans to launch flights to Newark Liberty International Airport from October 28, 2013. As per the airline this flight will act as a supplement service to New York JFK. With this supplement service Icelandair will be able to offer passengers with improved connections in Europe through its vast network.

Newark Liberty International Airport is the 11th gateway in North America and 36th pit stop globally for Icelandair. CEO Icelandair, Birkir Holm Gudnason said, Newark flights will not only offer support to their connecting flights across the Atlantic, but also Support Iceland's  growing winter tourism. He further said winter tourism has received overwhelming support from the U.S. and to match up to the ongoing demand they have increased their New York flights to ten per week. And with Newark addition we will be able to offer more air tickets to passengers.

Icelandair will operate on Newark sector every Mondays Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Apart from New York and Newark, Icelandair also offers flights to Boston, Denver, Seattle, and Toronto from Its hub at Keflavik International Airport.

Virgin America to Begin Flights to Hawaii From 2015

Virgin America recently announced its plans to fly to Hawaii. As per David Cush, CEO Virgin America, as soon as the airline gets its delivery of Airbus A320, it will spread its wings across Hawaii. The airline has taken the delivery of its first Sharklet fitted aircraft in March 2013.

Virgin America has placed order with Airbus for its new A320s, and is expecting its delivery by 2015. These new A320s are fitted with Sharklets, which help is reducing the drag and improve the fuel efficiency. 10 Airbus A330s fitted with Sharklets are expected to be delivered during 2015 and 2016.

Cush said that Virgin America at present does not operates cheap flights between the West Coast and Hawaii, as their present aircrafts are not equipped to handle flights on this route. This however would change once we get Sharklet equipped airplanes.

British Airways Returns to Sri Lanka

British Airways has decided to resume its operations in Sri Lanka. The airline in a recent press conference told the media that it has resumed its flights to Sri Lanka nearly after 15 years of hiatus from April 14, 2013.

BA will fly every Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays between London Gatwick Airport and Colombo international Airport via Male International Airport. British Airways will be using Boeing 777-200 passenger jet on this route and will be offering air tickets to passengers under three different classes.

Regional Commercial Manager South Asia, Christopher Fordyce said, over the past few years Sri Lanka has become a popular travel destination. It has grown as a powerful magnetic force, attracting leisure and business travelers. He also mentioned said that since Britain is the second highest contributor towards Sri Lankan tourism after India, hence this is the most logical decision to further boost our business.

Now Fly Business Class on Iberia from Miami to Madrid

Iberia Airline operated its maiden business class flight from Madrid to Miami on April 15, 2013. Costa Rica, the A330 aircraft operating inaugural flight left Madrid at 1150 hours and landed in Miami at 1520 hours.

This is good news for business class passengers, as now they will be able to travel this long-haul journey amid all the comforts. Madrid - Miami flight will offer passenger with Iberia’s brand new business class section. A total of 36 business class seats will be offered to passengers on this long-haul flight.

The Business Plus section on A330 have broader seats, which convert into 80 inches long fully flat beds. All these 36 seats have independent cabins giving direct aisle access to its occupant. Mood lighting, greater privacy and enhanced comfort are just few of the many salient features oh this aircraft. Passengers will also be able to enjoy the all new in-flight entertainment options during their journey like a 4.2" remote with touch screen. Using this virtual keyboard passenger will be able to access in-flight entertainment options, make calls and even send messages.
