New SriLankan Airlines online auction upgrade for Business Class

by Richa G 31. May 2013 07:40

Sri Lanka’s national flag carrier SriLankan Airlines recently announced online auction for Economy Class passengers planning to book business class flights.

SriLankan Airlines has unveiled its new “Upgra‘d e-auction”, a payment-based online auction system for Business Class upgrades from Economy Class.

The airline in a statement said that Upgra‘d e-auction system is an extremely user-friendly online process which will enable a passenger holding Economy Class ticket on a SriLankan Airlines flight for journey to any online destination in the airline’s network to place a bid for an upgrade by filling in and submitting an e-form available in the airline’s official website.

The passenger making use of Upgra‘d e-auction system and fulfilling the auction process and making a payment through credit card would be informed via email between 72 and 48hrs prior to departure upon approval of the bid.

However, if an upgrade is not at all possible then the previous booking would remain valid and the ticket holder would not be charged any fee, if his/her bid fails when applied through Upgra‘d e-auction system.

Alaska Airlines bids to continue flights services to Adak

by Richa G 29. May 2013 07:40

Flyers from Adak can now heave a sigh of relief and continue booking air tickets at low fares on Alaska Airlines for their travel to onward destinations being currently offered by the airline.

Alaska Airlines, which was earlier in a fix whether to continue offering its service to Adak, has now decided that it will continue serving the residents of Adak, although on a trial basis.

Dispelling the concerns over the continuance of services, Alaska Airlines has become the only airline to respond to a recent request made by the federal Department of Transportation for bids on the Adak community’s Essential Air Service contract.

Favorably responding to DOT’s request for bids, Alaska Airlines has decided in principle to go for it and has committed to continue offering its flights to Adak for a period of next two years.

The U.S. Department of Transportation will be reviewing the bid made by Alaska Airlines recently and is likely to make a decision on awarding contract to the airline in the coming weeks.
