Air Canada named Best Airline in North America by SKYTRAX

Canadian flag carrier Air Canada has expressed happiness after being named ‘Best Airline in North America’ during the recently concluded SKYTRAX 2013 World Airline Awards at Paris Air Show.

A jubilant Air Canada said that it has been recognized among North American carriers as well as ranked among the best airlines in the world for the fourth consecutive year.

Air Canada won the award based on an annual survey conducted by SKYTRAX in which more than 18 million passengers participated from across the world. According to SKYTRAX, the survey was conducted over a 10-month period. Customers from over 160 countries and representing more than 100 nationalities participated in the survey.  Over 200 airlines worldwide were covered during the survey.

All types of airline, from small domestic carriers to largest international airlines, were ranked by the customers according to quality standards.

Air Canada is the 15th largest commercial airline in the world and presently serves more than 175 destinations spanning five continents.

China Southern offers special business class fares on Canton route

China Southern Airlines will begin operating its first superjumbo service to Australia in October this year. To mark the launch of new service on its Canton Route, the airline recently launched special fares offering cheap business class tickets to its customers.

China Southern Airlines in a statement said that its customers can take advantage of this exclusive offer for travel to Amsterdam, Paris and London from Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. The airline will operate flights on this route with the help of its new Airbus A380 aircraft.

According to the airline, the fares would be on sale until the end of July this year. The customers are being offered tickets to Amsterdam starting from $5,020*, to Paris starting $5,100* and to London starting from $5,300*. These fares are round-trip and valid for departure from October 27, 2013 up till January 31, 2014. The flights would be operated from the airline’s southern Chinese hub of Guangzhou.

Virgin Atlantic and Delta Air Lines plan to cross-sell tickets

British carrier Virgin Atlantic Airways recently announced that Delta Air Lines has won approval to buy a 49 percent stake in the airline.
 
Delta Air Lines recently won European and U.S. antitrust approval to acquire stake in Virgin Atlantic Airways. With this approval, the two carriers are now planning to cross-sell flight tickets on each other’s network.

The approval was won by Delta Air Lines earlier this week. The airline is still to make public this latest development. Media reports, however, said that Delta Air Lines is planning to make an announcement next week regarding this significant cooperative relationship with Virgin Atlantic Airways, including a codeshare pact between the two carriers.

The reports further stated that the venture between Delta Air Lines and Virgin Atlantic Airways still remains to be finally approved by the U.S. Department of Transportation.

The alliance with Virgin Atlantic Airways will allow Delta Air Lines to expand access at London’s Heathrow Airport. Delta Air Lines is planning to start daily nonstop flights service to London Heathrow from Seattle.

SKYTRAX Best Business Class Airline Seat award for JAL SKY SUITE

Passengers buying business class tickets on Japan Airlines and traveling in its SKY SUITE must be having a great flying experience. The airline’s JAL SKY SUITE was recently presented with the Best Business Class Airline Seat award from SKYTRAX.

Japan Airlines is the first Japanese carrier to be given this award at SKYTRAX's 2013 World Airline Awards ceremony held recently at Paris Air Show.

The award is given based on the world’s largest airline passenger satisfaction survey conducted every year.

JAL SKY SUITE emerged at the top in this award category because of its commendable customer privacy and its seat width in the fully reclined flat-bed position.

Travelers from more than 160 countries took part in the annual SKYTRAX’s World Airline Awards survey, which covered over 200 airlines.

Japan Airlines started to install its new JAL SKY SUITE in its international fleet of Boeing 777-300ER aircrafts in January 2013. These new seats are now being offered on the airline’s Tokyo-London and Tokyo-New York routes.

Cathay Pacific Airways begins fifth daily flight to London

Travelers from Hong Kong would now get enhanced flight options and opportunity to book plane tickets at even cheaper rates from now onwards. Cathay Pacific Airways recently launched its fifth daily return flight between its Hong Kong hub and London Heathrow.

Cathay Pacific Airways new service made debut on June 27, 2013. The additional flight is aimed at offering customers convenient option to connect to these two key destinations.

The airline in a statement said that it would now be operating a total of 35 flights every week between London Heathrow and Hong Kong.

According to the airline, the customers would get added convenience and flexibility when traveling to Hong Kong and beyond into the Far East and Australasia from London Heathrow.

Cathay Pacific Airways disclosed that it has also added flight frequencies to various destinations worldwide from Hong Kong. These destinations include Vietnam, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan and India.

Aeromexico begins service on Los Angeles-La Paz route

Aeromexico flights have started offering services between Los Angeles and La Paz. Media reports recently indicated that Mexico’s national flag carrier Aeromexico has deployed its modern Embraer 190 aircraft, configured with 99 seats, to operate flights on Los Angeles-La Paz route.

The launch of flights to Los Angeles will be Aeromexico’s first international connection from La Paz. The airline is already operating flights to Mexico City and Culiacan from Los Angeles.

La Paz is a travel destination in Mexico. The city attracts tourists in large numbers with its umpteen nightclubs and best aquatic sports facilities in the country.  The launch of flights to La Paz would offer travelers from Los Angeles an opportunity to take advantage of the newly launched flight and enjoy summer holidays at La Paz. 

Aeromexico presently has codeshare agreement with Alaska Airlines and offers convenient connections to travelers from Mexico to travel beyond Los Angeles to Anchorage, Portland and Seattle in the U.S., as well as to Vancouver in Canada.

Philippine Airlines to introduce new low-cost carrier class

Philippine Airlines passengers can expect more cheap flights options in near future. As the airline is planning to replenish its fleet by adding new Airbus aircrafts to its existing fleet. The ailrine has taken this decision with an aim to accommodate a large number of passengers and to remain competitive with its rival Cebu Pacific.

Philippine Airlines recently announced it will be introducing a fourth class of service on its fleet of new Airbus A321 and A330-300 aircrafts.
 
The airline is scheduled to receive its new Airbus A321 aircraft in August this year. The new aircraft would be configured with 202 seats – 12 seats in business class, 36 seats in premium economy and 104 seats in economy class. Ramon Ang, President of Philippine Airlines, said that the remaining 50 seats on the aircraft would be designated “low-cost carrier” class.

Ang further said that the airline’s new Airbus A330-300 aircraft would be in two separate configurations – one designated for Philippine Airlines and another for the airline’s subsidiary PAL Express.

Get cheap airfares on Airberlin with Topdeal Tickets

Germany’s leading carrier Airberlin recently launched cheap airfares for its customers planning to book tickets for their summer holidays.

Airberlin in a statement said that the customers can take advantage of the attractive fares unveiled under its frequent flyer program Topbonus.

The airline under its Topbonus program, which is also Germany’s second largest frequent flyer program, is providing opportunity to its customers to redeem award miles.

Airberlin said that the customers can now book Topdeal Tickets, which would be available for travel between July 1 and September 30, 2013.

According to the airline, the customers would now required 12,500 topbonus award miles for booking long-haul flights. Earlier, the customers required 30,000 topbonus award miles for booking long-haul flights to Abu Dhabi from Berlin or Dusseldorf.

A top official of Airberlin disclosed that over three million guests are currently participating in the Topbonus frequent flyer program and enjoying exclusive benefits.

JetBlue Airways to add business class seats on Airbus A321 jets

JetBlue Airways would soon be offering business class flights to its customers. Media reports recently said that JetBlue Airways is planning to add business class seats on some of its Airbus A321 aircrafts. The airline’s business class cabins would also include four “mini-suites”.

The reports said that Airbus has filed on behalf of JetBlue Airways with the Federal Aviation Administration seeking to add seats in business class, which would include four “mini-suites”.

According to the filing with Federal Aviation Administration, Airbus has proposed that its A321 cabin configuration being desired by JetBlue Airways would be in a two-class layout – 143 seats in coach class and 16 seats in business class.

The Airbus in its filing also said that there would be four single seats in business class cabins that are ‘mini-suites’ types.

Media reports indicated that JetBlue Airways is planning to deploy the first of its two-class A321 aircrafts on cross-country routes by early next year.
