Singapore Airlines simplifying end-to-end travel process to UK

by amit.uniyal 29. January 2014 04:50

If you are traveling to the UK from Singapore, your end-to-end travel experience is about to be simplified and you will be able to fly as well as travel on rail on a single booking. Simple, isn’t it! Singapore Airlines has recently announced partnership with First Great Western and Heathrow Express to provide a simplified travel experience to those traveling to any of the destinations served by Singapore Airlines from London Heathrow on a single booking in the UK.

According to Singapore Airlines, this unique partnership has been formed to simplify the overall travel experience of the customers allowing them to travel to several cities in the south west of the UK to any of the destinations being currently served by Singapore Airlines from London Heathrow on a single booking. This tie-up among the three companies would be convenient for passengers as well since they would not be required to make three separate bookings and instead travel on a single ticket.

Singapore Airlines said that under this unique Rail-Fly partnership the customers who start their travel at any one of 11 railway stations in the UK would be able to travel as far as Brisbane in Australia on a single booking. For example, through this kind of booking a customer would be able to travel by rail with First Great Western to London Paddington from Bristol, catch the Heathrow Express service to London Heathrow, and finally take Singapore Airlines flight to Brisbane via Singapore Changi Airport – and that too, all on the same booking.

Singapore Changi Airport airlines bring ATA to boost air travel

by Richa 29. August 2013 03:14

After having a successful run in Australia in 2012, Singapore Changi Airport and various international airlines have now brought ‘Achieve Thru Art’ (ATA) competition in Singapore. This is for the first time that this online visual art competition has landed in Singapore.

The 3-month art competition is aimed at encouraging the enhancing the development of visual arts as well as boost air travel. More than 400,000 students and youths across all the schools in Singapore would be participating in the ATA competition. The winners would be presented with airline tickets to 12 destinations.

The ATA competition has already started and shall continue up till October 21. The competition is based on the theme “Countries, Cultures & Festivals”. The students are required to create their artwork using any medium such as crayons, charcoal or paint. The artwork would be uploaded on the ATA website thus creating a visual gallery to be visible worldwide.

The partner airlines sponsoring the ATA competition include Vietnam Airlines, Turkish Airlines, SilkAir, Royal Brunei Airlines, Lao Airlines, Jet Airways, Finnair, China Airlines and Cebu Pacific Air. The travel prizes to various destinations to be won include Changsha, Hanoi, Iloilo, Bandar Seri Begawan, Vientiane, Kaoshiung, Delhi, Istanbul and Helsinki. The winners will be announced on November 11.

Meanwhile, here’s good news for those flying through Singapore’s Changi Airport. Singapore Airlines, which introduced $16 (20 Singapore Dollars) transit vouchers in October last year and doubled the amount this January, has now extended the offer until December 31 because of the popular demand. The travel vouchers can be used at any restaurant or shop in the airport. The voucher can also be utilized for accessing the lounge, having a shower between flights, and accessing the rooftop pool area or go to the gym.

Singapore to stop all-business class New York, LA flights

by Richa G 28. January 2013 05:39

Passengers booking nonstop business class flights from Singapore to New York’s Newark International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport would no longer be able to do so after 2013.

Singapore Airlines, which operates the world’s longest commercial flights, recently announced it has decided to stop its all-business class nonstop services from Singapore to New York and Los Angeles by the end of this year.

The airline in a statement said that it has been running into losses as it was unable to sell the business class seats in order to make flight operations financially viable. The airline has now indicated that it would be selling its five Airbus A340 aircrafts back to the manufacturer.

Goh Choon Phong, Chief Executive of Singapore Airlines, stated that the airline is planning to increase its capital expenditure for the next five years by 67 percent for buying new aircrafts and upgrade its cabins.

Phong said that there is a dire need to venture out of comfort zone, find new ways to boost sales and marketing, curtail expenditure, and vastly improve both operational efficiency and productivity.
