American Airlines, on Monday announced that a nonstop four days per week flight service from O’Hare International Airport, Chicago to Beijing Capital International Airport will start from May 25. Further, they wish to commence continuous flight from Beijing to Chicago as well. Come July 3, and the departures from both the cities would start functioning.
Earlier, the plan was to start off the service from April 26, but the takeoff and landing times of the flight allowed by China was not suitable to them. The time offered by Chinese officials, from Beijing was 2:20 am as arrival time and 4:20 am as departure time.
Now the American Airlines plane would depart Chicago on two days, Friday and Saturday at 8:30 pm and reach Beijing at 11 at night the very next day. Some of the aircraft would 9:30 pm at night on Tuesday and Thursday to reach Beijing at 11:59 pm. The services would be provided on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays to start from 7:59 pm from Beijing to reach Chicago at 7:49 am. The planes on Tuesday would leave at 6:59 am to reach at 6:49 am.
The aircraft to be used by the airline will be Boeing 777. The cabin consists of 14 first-class, 37 business class and 194 economy class seats. It would be a second nonstop flight by this airline functioning in the nation.
Craig Kreeger, the senior Vice President, international operations, American Airlines told that the Beijing Capital International Airport is an airport restricted by time slots, a constraint to assign slots is dealt by Chinese aviation officials as well.
