has decided to introduce its electronic upgrade program called ‘eUpgrades’ in December 2010. The decision comes in the wake of overwhelming and consistent feedback from Super Elite or Top Tier members.
An official of the airline said that 2011 Select Privileges will now feature Air Canada eUpgrades. According to the new provision, if a member will choose eUpgrades as part of his/her Select Privileges a personal online account will be set up and eUpgrades Credits will be deposited there.
Starting December, the passengers will be able to manage and use their eUpgrade Credits for travel on any Air Canada or Air Canada Jazz flights for travel on/after March 1, 2011. The passengers will be able to book an upgrade to Executive Class or Executive First using the client’s eUpgrade Credits at Air Canada /agents. Besides, the passengers will be able to share their eUpgrade Credits with other travelers.
The airline further said that the clients’ current paper certificates will continue to remain valid up to February 28, 2011. If the passenger has confirmed a client upgrade for travel prior to this date, he/she will be required to present a valid Air Canada Top Tier upgrade certificate at the airport.
