Cathay Pacific Airways
will introduce a new and simplified method of calculating extra baggage charges effective December 1 this year. The new measure will be applicable for flights to all destinations on its network.
The charging rate for extra baggage is based on ticket fares at present. But, according to the new system the baggage charges will be calculated in accordance with a structured system of travel zones. The airline has taken this step to simplify the handling of charges for extra baggage and special baggage.
The passengers will now be able to view a transparent and easy-to-understand grid of charges through the airline’s website, and can calculate exactly the charges they will be required to pay by referring to the zones in which their travel originates and ends. However, the airline has said that there will be no changes to the cabin baggage allowances.
