Singapore Airlines recently disclosed the hike in fuel surcharge that will be applicable on air tickets issued on and after April 21st 2011. According to the airline the fuel rates have increased tremendously since the beginning of this year by more than 30 percent and have thus made it to increase fuel surcharge.

The carrier confirmed that the fuel surcharge hike will range between USD 4 and USD 32 per sector, which will depend entirely on the distance and traveling class. The raised fuel surcharge will be applicable on Singapore Airlines and SilkAir flights.

At present the cost of jet fuel per barrel is more than USD 138, which has turned to be highest in two years.
