The Portuguese flagship carrier TAP Portugal
recently launched non-stop flights between Miami and Lisbon starting June 6, 2011. The airline started the four weekly nonstop flights to boost its presence at Miami International Airport.
The new flights on Miami-Lisbon route will be in addition to the TAP Portugal’s existing service between Newark and the two Portuguese cities of Lisbon and Porto. The new route will also significantly strengthen the airline’s presence and expansion in North America.
TAP Portugal’s Miami-Lisbon route will also be the shortest transatlantic crossing of any carrier to Europe (taking only 8 hours). Besides, with the introduction of its non-stop Miami-Lisbon service TAP Portugal is also providing the South Florida market non-stop access to its modern hub airport of Lisbon. TAP Portugal is also able to offer connections to all major destinations in Europe from Lisbon without having to geographically ‘backtrack’.
