South Africa’s flag carrier South African Airways
(SAA) recently launched its special “South Africa on Sale” fares on its flights from New York or Washington, D.C. (Dulles) to Johannesburg or Cape Town aimed at boosting tourism.
The fares would be starting at just US$1,080 (plus taxes and fees) for departures from September 13 to December 10, 2011. The fares also include fuel surcharge, and are now available for purchase through June 21.
According to the South African Airways, travel for the “South Africa on Sale” fares require a 5-day minimum stay, and allow a maximum stay of 12 months. Low add-on fares are also available from other US cities.
Todd Neuman, Acting Executive Vice President, North America, for South African Airways, said, “It’s time to start planning that fall trip, just in time to enjoy South Africa’s spring season. It is a great time to visit Johannesburg’s many exciting historic and cultural sights, or to explore Cape Town as its flora and fauna start to bloom amid a region that is rich with both exhilarating and relaxing activities. These low fares make it hard to pass the opportunity by, and SAA offers the most comfortable and convenient way to get there.”
