Swiss Air exploring services on Geneva-Beijing route

by Richa G 8. February 2013 04:10

Swiss International Air Lines Ltd., the company which operates Swiss Air flights, recently indicated that it is considering the possibility of launching a new route between Geneva and Beijing.

The airline in a statement said that with the entry of Air China into Switzerland, the hopes have brightened as Swiss Air sees a potential for entering into a codeshare partnership with Air China.

According to the airline, there has been a significant increase in the number of Chinese citizens selecting European destinations for spending their vacations. The demand for travel to Switzerland from China has therefore grown phenomenally.

Harry Hohmeister, Chief Executive Officer of Swiss Air, said that when choosing Geneva for their travel, the visitors from China would be avail a combination of Alpine scenery and luxury shopping.

Hohmeister said that the Chinese market is growing faster than any other country, and considering a codeshare partnership with Air China would only prove to be beneficial in the long term.
