Icelandair announced its plans to launch flights to Newark Liberty International Airport from October 28, 2013. As per the airline this flight will act as a supplement service to New York JFK. With this supplement service Icelandair will be able to offer passengers with improved connections in Europe through its vast network.
Newark Liberty International Airport is the 11th gateway in North America and 36th pit stop globally for Icelandair. CEO Icelandair, Birkir Holm Gudnason said, Newark flights will not only offer support to their connecting flights across the Atlantic, but also Support Iceland's growing winter tourism. He further said winter tourism has received overwhelming support from the U.S. and to match up to the ongoing demand they have increased their New York flights to ten per week. And with Newark addition we will be able to offer more air tickets to passengers.
Icelandair will operate on Newark sector every Mondays Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Apart from New York and Newark, Icelandair also offers flights to Boston, Denver, Seattle, and Toronto from Its hub at Keflavik International Airport.
