Spend your summers in Shanghai

Sunny and spirited, Shanghai is a good destination to visit in summer. May starts with the Labor Day on May 1st when you can indulge into some feisty shopping. The 30th Shanghai Spring International Music Festival is to be held from the end of April till Mid-May; with award winning orchestras, vocal performances, instrumental music and operas, this festival attracts viewers from all over the world.

Suzhou, which is about 120 km from Shanghai, hosts a festival called The Immortal Day in May. The town celebrates this day with temple fairs, food stalls and art performances; people with diseases are said to be cured when they see the patron saint of this day.

The Shanghai International Tea culture festival held between May 16th and 19th is all about making friends over a cup of tea. Tea lovers can look forward to some interesting activities and events related to the popular beverage.

The Dragon Boat Festival which will be held from June 12th this year is a major attraction for tourists; with exciting races among colorfully decorated boats, the Suzhou creek surges with action and festive spirit. With Dragon kites, zongzi and traditional shows, this is an event for locals as well as tourists.

The Shanghai International Film Festival which is to be held from June 15th to 23rd, 2013 is a popular event that’s gaining recognition all over the world. This award function is well attended and attracts stars of international repute. The Shanghai television festival, also held in June, is one of the best known TV festivals in Asia.
