The City of Lights is all geared for a cheery summer with plenty of outdoor events and fests; though this may not be tourist season; don't miss the chance to see Paris in summer when it's less crowded and more affordable.
While the Nuit des Musees held every year in May offers you to chance to visit the Louvre and hundreds of other popular Paris museums for free till midnight, the Paris Wine Fair offers connoisseurs the chance to sample some of the best wine in the world. Of course, the French Open held from mid-May to June needs no introduction; for tennis fans, this IS the place to be in May.
June is for theater lovers; bask in the evening summer breeze of Paris at open air theaters watching Jardin Shakespeare's plays and other concerts. This is also the time when the city comes alive with music with the Fete de la Musique and the Paris Jazz Festival at Parc Floral. Even children celebrate their own music festival, Les Pestacles at the Parc Floral from June to September when specialized children shows are organized. While you're there, don't miss the Paris Air Show and Paris Summer Sales.
July is marked by the Bastille Day on July 14th and Paris Plages when the banks of the River Seine are converted into a beach with sand, games and snack booths. Also famous is the Tour De France where internationally renowned cyclists compete in a cycle race over 3500 miles of diverse terrains.
