East Coast storm forces 640 plus flight cancellations

by Richa G 3. July 2013 06:55

East coast airports had an awkward day as storm affected operations and created confusion amongst travelers. Stormy weather disturbed the flight schedules and caused more than 640 airlines including American, Delta and JetBlue operating mainly out of JFK had to terminate their services in the day.

JetBlue, a low cost carrier, headquartered in Long Island City has issued a warning to its customers of flight delays on Wednesday. It has advised flyers to check current status ahead of their flight departures.

The New York and Philadelphia airports, vulnerable to delays even under slight weather changes, suffered through most of Monday. Atlanta, Washington Dulles and Washington Reagan National airports suffered from intermittent delays all through the day.

The airports that witnessed and endured the most due to stormy conditions Monday were LaGuardia, Philadelphia, Newark, Chicago O’Hare and Charlotte airports. Each of these airports had 145, 134, 95, 65, 41 and 41 departures terminated respectively.
