Etihad Airways announced its decision to fly to Los Angeles making the city its fourth destination in the United States. The Gulf carrier said it would add flights to the U.S. city from its hub in Abu Dhabi. The new service is likely to commence from June 1, 2014. The airline is however, awaiting necessary permissions from the authorities as a green signal to open this route.
If all goes well for the carrier, passengers will be able to book airline tickets and travel directly between Los Angeles and Abu Dhabi. The carrier sees Los Angeles as a potential market and believes the city to be a global center for business and economy. The management is happy and proud to include it to its itinerary.
As per the schedule the airline will offer daily round-trip flights between the city pair. It will use the services of Boeing 777-200LR aircrafts on the route. This plane is equipped with a seating capacity for 237 passengers. The airline recently signed a deal with Indian flagship carrier Air India to purchase five of its B777-200LR planes. The carrier will be using these planes to fly to various destinations including Los Angeles. At present, it serves the cities of New York, Chicago, Washington DC, Toronto, and Sao Paulo in the Americas.
