British Airways Increases Frequency on Edinburg-Ibiza Route

British Airways the national carrier of England recently announced that it will be adding its frequency on Edinburg-Ibiza Route. This will provide the holidaymakers an opportunity to visit the famous islands of the Mediterranean.

British Airways introduced its first ever international flight from Scotland on May 23 by offering flights to Ibiza from Edinburgh. The airline had initially offered twice weekly service to the island of Spain. However, the airline decided to increase this seasonal service to thrice weekly from June 13. Now flights will operate every Wednesday, Friday, and Sundays.

This is the only international route by the British Airways that is flying using its own aircraft. This route will be operated by A320 aircraft. The aircraft has 161 seats sufficient for leisure and business travelers. BA on this route will face stiff competition from Thomson Airways offering weekly service and Jet2 offering twice-weekly service.

Richard Tams, British Airways chief said Ibiza is an important tourist destination for Scottish travelers. He further added that Balearic Island is traveled by more than tens of thousands of Scots each year. Holidaymakers can avail of the chance to have a nonstop flight from the Edinburg. Moreover, the service will possess all the benefit of a full-service carrier such as online check-in, free food and drinks, and ability to select seat 24 hours prior to departure of the plane. The chief welcomes all the British Airways passengers to travel this exciting route.

Gordon Dewar, CEO Edinburgh Airport, said they are very happy to help British Airways for the service of the new Edinburg-Ibiza route. He further said that the added service will provide their passengers with more choices. This service can be provided only by working together and will grow in near future.

Carmen Ferrer, Tourism Councilor Ibiza said that they are pleased with the launch of the new route from Edinburg to Ibiza by British Airways. This link will bring the Scotland and Ibiza even closer.  Scots will have the opportunity to see the variety of islands and enjoy the beautiful city of Edinburg.

The United Kingdom’s national carrier functions up to 26 times daily. The flights serve three London airports Heathrow, Gatwick, and City from Edinburgh. The carrier discontinued offering international flights from Scotland way back in 2006, between Edinburgh and Hamburg.
