British Airways to resume flights to Tripoli from London Heathrow May 1
Jan 30, 2012
British Airways recently announced that it has decided to resume its flights to Tripoli from London Heathrow from May 1, 2012.
The UK flag carrier will re-introduce the flights to the Libyan capital after it remained suspended for about 15 months following turmoil in Libya and instability in the Gulf region.
British Airways will be deploying an Airbus A320 aircraft on London-Tripoli route. The flight will be operated three days every week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
The airline decided to resume the flights after the overthrow of Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi and a fresh agreement between the new Libyan government and British government.
The flights to Tripoli International Airport from London Heathrow could also become possible with NATO officially lifting no-fly zone ban over the whole of Libya three months ago.
