Health and Safety Precautions for Bangalore

One of the fastest growing cities in India, Bangalore or Bengaluru, is an eventful city which holds a lot of charm and appeal. If you have zeroed down on this as your next vacation spot, and have already booked your airline tickets for cheap on cheap flights to Bangalore, then here is a rundown of the most important tips and information you should know, to make your holiday more memorable.

How’s the Weather?
Owing to its position and location in the southern region of India, Bangalore has a mild and pleasant climate all year round. The summers are from February till May and peak only in the last two months (April and May). But even the hottest months are easily bearable. One thing you will have to account for is the rainy season. If you aren’t the biggest fan of rains, then avoid the months of June, July and August as this is when the city gets the maximum amount of rainfall.

The best time to book your flights to Bangalore is during the winter months. From October till February the weather is at its best. In fact during winters the temperature lingers around 12°C.

Health Precautions
Though the city is very neat and clean and maintains the health standards, there are still quite a few things you as a traveler, should be aware of.
Avoid eating any food item from the roadside stalls. It isn’t that all roadside vendors sell unhygienic stuff, but chances are that the food might not suit you. Hence no matter how healthy the food items look, you should not take a chance with the. Instead eat at a well-established joint.

The golden rule of traveling in India is that you should at all times ask for bottled mineral water, from a company that you know of like Bisleri, Himalaya etc. before drinking water, ensure that the seal has not been tampered with. Drink loads of water when you are out in the sun, or otherwise there are chances of dehydration.

Avoid eating salads, provided by small scale restaurants as chances are that it may not be fresh. Also, do not eat already cut fruits that are sold on the roads.

What to Pack
Wear light and loose fitting clothes in summer and carry a shawl/stole or a light jacket for winters. Keep an umbrella handy with you at all times.
If you are going to be out during late evenings or night time, carry a tube of mosquito repellant. Also make it a point to carry sunscreen lotion and sunglasses.

Safety Concerns

Though Bangalore is a relatively safe place, but like every other metro it definitely has its share of troubles. While you are out and about enjoying the city, ensure that, firstly, you have done your bit of research on the area, and know beforehand where you are going to go. Secondly, do not place implicit trust on your cab driver (if you are using a cab that is) or even your tour guide. Maintain a safe distance and be well aware of your surroundings at all times.
