Some of Dallas’s best features are its world-renowned art museums that have won the city a title from New York Magazine as the number one city in the world for art lovers. Museums are both affordable and accessible, and there is even a major art attraction that is totally free: the Public ArtWalk Dallas. Stay in shape and see some of Dallas’s most iconic pieces of art on a free self-guided tour through the city. Check out cheap ticket air line prices and plan your ArtWalk today.

The Public ArtWalk’s 3.3 miles will take you all around the city center. The trail has 30 optional stops at a mix of museums and outdoor exhibits and murals, each showcasing a different piece of Dallas’s art heritage. The first stop is Nasher Sculpture Center, one of the best collections of contemporary sculpture in the world. Two stops later, check out the Genesis: the Gift of Life mural, an immense glass mosaic of vibrant orange flames on a blue background. The mural is right by the Dallas Museum of Art, the next stop on your tour. You can check out the limestone building or the sculptures on the grounds outside, or take a few hours to tour the art inside. After passing several churches, including an English Gothic Revival church, you’ll see a modernist office tower designed by I.M. Pei.

A few stops later at Thanks-Giving Square, you can visit a spiraling chapel and meditation center with stained glass windows, a favorite attraction for visitors arriving on cheap flights to Dallas. A few blocks away, look up to see Dallas’s famous red Pegasus above the Magnolia Building. Below it, relax by the natural spring fountains at Pegasus Plaza. After getting to know Pegasus, see some more animals at Pioneer Plaza, stop number 17. The scene here recreates a cattle drive on the Shawnee cattle trail, with bronze scale models of cowboys and longhorn steers. After this, you’ll head to Dallas City Hall, an iconic building with its own fascinating sculptures. Several stops later, relax at the SpectraScape exhibit in Main Street Garden, an animated, motion sensor activated lighting display. One of the last stops on the tour is Dallas’s Cathedral de Guadalupe.

You can download a full map of the trail on the ArtWalk website. Since Dallas has relatively mild winters, you can do the ArtWalk any time during the year. The Walk is a great city introduction for art fans who plan to book flights to Dallas. Buy your tickets to DFW Airport now - take advantage of cheap flight deals and cheap tickets to Dallas for a unique art experience.
