Frontier Airlines won’t resume services at Sioux City airport

Frontier Airlines recently announced that it won’t return to the Sioux City airport ever again. The low cost carrier stopped operating its flights between Denver International Airport (DEN) and Sioux Gateway Airport (SUX) in October 2014.

The airline in a statement said that it basically relied on connecting passengers traveling through Denver. However, it is now focusing more on city-to-city service. The airline said that considering its current business strategy Sioux City doesn’t fit into its plan.

American Airlines is now the only carrier serving the Sioux Gateway Airport. The airline is presently operating twice daily flights to Sioux City from Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD). Media reports said that Sioux Gateway Airport officials are now seeking other airlines to begin its services from here.

Meanwhile, in yet another development Frontier Airlines has significantly boosted its presence at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). The airline has added three new routes from here effective from March 6, 2015.

The airline started operating six weekly flights services to Austin–Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) from Atlanta. The airline has deployed a 168-seat Airbus A320 aircraft to operate flights between the two cities. The route is presently being served by Delta Air Lines and Southwest Airlines.

Frontier Airlines recently increased its frequencies to Indianapolis International Airport (IND) from Atlanta. The airline added six additional weekly flights on this route, which is being served by a 138-seat Airbus A319 aircraft. The other two carriers serving the route include Southwest Airlines and Delta Air Lines.

Frontier Airlines also expanded its service to Miami International Airport (MIA) from Atlanta with daily departures now. The airline is utilizing a 138-seat Airbus A319 aircraft on the route, where it will be competing with American Airlines and Delta Air Lines.
