Iberia provides alternative flights for December 29 strike-affected passengers
Dec 27, 2011
Passengers flying by Iberia need not worry any more about their travel to respective destinations on December 29, 2011.
The airline has found out ways to mitigate the travel worries of its passengers. Iberia in a statement said that it has rebooked all its passengers on alternative flights who will be impacted by strike action by Iberia pilots to protest the creation of low-cost carrier Iberia Express.
The SEPLA pilots union, who has called for the strike on December 29, said that the creation of low-cost carrier Iberia Express, a new wholly-owned subsidiary of Iberia Airlines, is going to put a number of Iberia pilots out of work posing untold miseries to be faced by them.
To ease travel woes of its affected passengers, Iberia has reached special agreements with other Spanish, European, American and Middle Eastern airlines to enable passengers fly to their respective destinations.
Due to strike on December 29, Iberia has been forced to cancel 118 flights. The cancellation of flights has affected more than 10,000 passengers. At least 1,500 passengers have booked tickets for long-haul flights, while the rest of them have booked for short as well as medium haul flights. Among the worst hit destinations in Europe include Italy, UK, Netherlands, France, Portugal, Germany and Switzerland. Flights to Argentina, Colombia and USA have also been badly affected.
