Icelandair reports record passenger traffic on international routes in May
Icelandair flights have put up a strong showing on international routes in May this year. Icelandair recently announced its operational results for May 2012 and sounded euphoric at the outcome.
The airline reported record passenger numbers and load factor on international route this May.
Providing further details, the airline said that it carried around 165,000 passengers on international routes in May 2012, an increase of 22 percent as compared to the same month in 2011.
According to the airline, its passenger load factor was 82.2 percent. The load factor of the airline significantly improved by 5.0 percentage points in May this year.
Icelandair stated that for the month of May this is a record number of passengers as well as load factor.
The airline further stated that the Trans-Atlantic market reported the largest increase in passenger numbers, amounting to 31 percent.
According to Icelandair, the number of tourists from North America has more than doubled in the past 2 years. The number of tourists from North America increased 58 percent, with the launch of new flights to Washington, Denver and Seattle.
