Lufthansa expands automatic check-in service

Germany’s flag carrier Lufthansa recently announced that it will be expanding its automatic check-in service and will offer it on approximately 400 routes within the Schengen Area, which comprises of 26 European countries operating like a single state for international travel.
The automatic check-in service currently exists in Germany and Italy, and has proved to be quite popular with the passengers because of significant time savings and convenience that it offers.
The automatic check-in service allows passengers with an existing booking to check in 23 hours prior to their departure automatically. The passengers receive an electronic boarding pass with their reserved seat number shortly after they complete the process, which is either sent to them by email or an internet-enabled mobile phone.
The service can also be availed by all members of the Miles & More frequent flyer program who choose to select this option.
Lufthansa has also announced that it will be soon expanding its automatic check-in service across its global network and make it available for all flight bookings.
Lufthansa has its hubs in Frankfurt and Munich and currently operates flight services to 211 destinations in 84 countries across the world.
