Air China to focus more on London Heathrow
Now, don’t expect to book plane tickets to London Gatwick when flying with Air China. Media reports recently disclosed that Air China has stopped its direct flights to London Gatwick airport. The airline will instead be focusing more on its existing flights to London Heathrow.
The reports said that decision of Air China is the latest in a number of similar withdrawals by major international airlines from London Gatwick airport, the city’s second major airport, over the past five years. Though, there have been new additions as well while replacing some of these.
According to reports, the authorities at London Gatwick are hopeful that the current decision of Air China should in no way be a permanent one. The authorities are expecting that the airline’s exit will be a temporary one, with the flights being resumed next summer.
The airport authorities said that Air China had decided to stop services between London Gatwick and Beijing this winter. However, Air China has increased its capacity to London Heathrow this summer leading to a temporary suspension of service withdrawal from Gatwick for the winter season. Air China intends to once again begin flights out of Gatwick from next summer, and that the airport authorities would make extensive efforts to return it to a year-round service.
