Airberlin expands codeshare agreement with Etihad Airways
Germany’s second-largest carrier Airberlin recently announced the expansion of its cooperation with the UAE’s national carrier Etihad Airways. Airberlin said that it has now expanded its codeshare agreement with Etihad Airways. With the codeshare pact expansion Airberlin will now be able to include Vietnam in its network.
Etihad Airways had since early October this year been operating a daily nonstop service between the UAE capital Abu Dhabi and Vietnam’s capital Ho Chi Minh City. This is the airline’s first destination in Vietnam.
Airberlin said that with the new codeshare agreement in place now it will be able to put its flight code on Etihad Airways-operated flights as well as provide airline tickets to its customers for travel on Etihad Airways flights. The airline said that the codeshare pact will allow passengers to book an Airberlin ticket from Germany/Europe to Ho Chi Minh City.
Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, CEO of Airberlin, said that the expansion of this codeshare agreement will be beneficial for the airline as its customers will now be able to travel from Berlin and Dusseldorf via Abu Dhabi to Ho Chi Minh City. The customers will also be able to fly from Frankfurt and Munich on codeshare services with Etihad Airways, as well as via numerous connecting flights from other cities in Germany, Switzerland and Australia.
