Allegiant Air to cut Hawaii routes, retain LA flights

The news from Allegiant Air will bring mixed feelings to passengers. On one side the Airways is cutting short its four Hawaii routes, while on the other hand it will continue its services to Los Angeles.

Allegiant Air one of the low fare airlines of USA has recently announced to suspend its flights from four Mainland cities to Hawaii this August. The airline in the past three month has already suspended four of its Hawaii routes, making a total of eight suspensions in a row, leaving Las Vegas and Los Angeles, the only two cities serving the capital city of Hawaii. This hiatus includes flights operated from Scottsdale, Arizona; Eugene, Oregon; and Stockton and Fresno in California to Hawaiian cities. The previous suspensions include flights operated from Bellingham and Spokane, Washington and Boise, Idaho.

Allegiant Airlines has entered the Hawaii market two years ago. From that time onwards the airline on a seasonal basis has added and suspended its services from West Coast to Hawaii.

The flights from Medford to Los Angeles which was planned for suspension will now be retained for the service. Jessica Wheeler, spokesperson Allegiant, said most of our Los Angeles flights undergo seasonal suspension after summer owing to less demand in winter season. The case with Medford to Los Angeles is different and we are providing round the year service on this route. She further added that one-way flights from Los Angeles to Medford will cost less this fall and will increase during the holiday season.

The airline presently provides weekly four times service on Medford and Los Angeles route. This includes Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. From the mid-August the flight service on this route will be provided twice weekly i.e. Sundays and Thursdays.

The airline also hinted about expanding its network from Cincinnati airport. The company will add flights to Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, and Phoenix in coming years. With so many expansions, it may not come as a surprise that Allegiant Air makes CVG as its hub in the coming years.

Andrew Levy, CEO Allegiant Air, said we are positive about the development of Cincinnati in near future. If the current trends continue we hope that the growth of Cincinnati would be even larger and faster than what we can predict now. We are optimistic and wishing bigger and better growth of CVG. He further said that we could add more flights during holidays. The announcement for the expansion will be made within next one or two months.

CVG is one of the non-vacation, fastest growing city in the 15-year history of Allegiant Air. The airline is based at Las Vegas and has expanded a lot since its debut at CVG. Allegiant provides a total of 10 flights a week to Fort Myers, Myrtle Beach, and Orlando. The airline has gained name and fame due to its fastest growing network and extremely cheap tickets. The carrier will grow to about 20 flights a week from CVG.
