Big increase in Air Tahiti Nui long haul passengers in 2014

The year 2014 has been highly fruitful for Air Tahiti Nui. The airline recently said that it is presently witnessing a bumper year with the total number of passengers traveling from New Zealand rising to more than 64 percent during the first 7 months of the current year.

The airline said that the biggest gainer has been the long haul travel segment with a huge increase in total number of passengers to more than 156 percent. Air Tahiti Nui said that the increase in passenger numbers to Los Angeles was a massive 218 percent. The total number long haul passengers to Paris also rose to a significant 214 percent.

Mark Hutchinson, Air Tahiti Nui’s General Manager – New Zealand, said that the tremendous increase in the long haul passenger numbers was because of the aggressive marketing and sales drive of the airline following the network-wide overhaul.

He said that the airline had assessed the demand for extra flights services, but it is simply surprising that the passengers started responding to the demand so quickly. The results of 2014 are therefore quite encouraging and praiseworthy.

Hutchinson said that Air Tahiti Nui is the only carrier providing seamless connections to mainland Europe via North America from New Zealand. The service has in fact greatly appealed to the travelers from New Zealand with Los Angeles stopovers now up by 37 percent in 2014.

It may be recalled that Air Tahiti Nui has increased its weekly flights services between Los Angeles and Auckland to three in December 2013. The airline also started offering enhance connection to France providing travelers from New Zealand better connectivity to Europe with more frequencies to Paris with exciting stopover options en route in Tahiti and the United States.

Air Tahiti Nui in a statement said that the new year-round Tuesday flights will be complementing the Thursday and Sunday flights services departing from Auckland to Papeete and then onwards to Paris and Los Angeles. The airline’s upgraded French Connection offers the option of stopovers in Tahiti and Los Angeles, or a Paris to Auckland service to be completed in about 30 hours, including transits.
