British Airways to deploy its new Airbus A380 to San Francisco

British Airways recently announced it will launch its new Airbus A380 to San Francisco. The renowned ‘City by the Bay’, where the airline will be conducting its flights from London’s Heathrow Airport, will be its third superjumbo destination in the United States. The flights will become operational during the summer 2015 season.

The flights between San Francisco and London will be operated five times every week on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The departure will be from Terminal 5 of London’s Heathrow Airport.
British Airways had earlier announced that it will be launching its new Airbus A380 superjumbo to Washington D.C. starting from October 2, 2014. The airline has also been providing Airbus A380 service to Los Angeles since September 2013.

According to British Airways, the Airbus A380 aircraft to be deployed on London-San Francisco route will be configured with 469 seats in four classes. The aircraft’s main deck will have 14 suites in First Class. The Business Class passengers will be offered 97 Club World seats, which will be split between the upper and main deck in a 2-3-2 configuration. The aircraft’s extended World Traveller Plus or Premium Economy cabin will be equipped with 55 seats, while the Economy Class or World Traveller cabin will have 303 seats.

Lynne Embleton, British Airways’ Director of Strategy, said that San Francisco has continued to remain a great favorite with the airline’s customers. He said that it’s a proud moment for the airline to offer its customers opportunity to be able to fly on one of the newest and most advanced aircraft in the airline’s impressive fleet.

Embleton said that the customers, when flying in the new Airbus A380 superjumbo, will have a luxurious travel and reach the U.S. west coast relaxing in great comfort and style. The latest state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment system in the new aircraft will provide a chance to the travelers to choose from above 650 TV shows and 130 movies to entertain themselves on board their flight. The passengers will also be served complimentary delicious meals and beverages, apart from being offered various other facilities.

British Airways has indicated that it will shortly be taking the delivery of its seventh Airbus A380 superjumbo aircraft.
