Cathay Pacific Airways nonstop flights to Boston from May 2015

Passengers traveling from Hong Kong to United States can now look forward to more travel options with competitive fares. Hong Kong’s flagship carrier Cathay Pacific Airways has announced it will be launching nonstop flights to Boston from next year.

The airline in a statement said that the nonstop flights between Hong Kong International Airport and Boston Logan International Airport will begin operations starting from May 3, 2015. The flights will operate four-times every week. The service is however yet to be approved. The airline will be operating the flight with the help of a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

Tom Owen, Cathay Pacific Airways’ Senior Vice President – Americas, said that Boston will now be the airline’s 6th gateway in the United States and 8th in North America. The new service will be connecting New England and Hong Kong directly for the first time. The airline is presently serving North American destinations such as San Francisco, Newark, New York JFK, Los Angeles, Chicago, Vancouver and Toronto.

The year 2014 witnessed a significant increase in capacity following the launch of a new daily Newark service. The airline also started operating its fourth daily service from Los Angeles and three additional services from Chicago per week.

Owen said that the launch of nonstop Hong Kong-Boston flights is quite significant and even goes beyond just linking Boston with the key Asian World City of Hong Kong. He said that the new service is going to prove beneficial with opening up the greater New England region with convenient connections to a number of Asian cities. These include over 22 destinations in Mainland China as well as important tourism and economic hubs throughout Southeast Asia such as Hanoi, Bali, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta and Singapore. With the launch of the new service, the flying duration from Boston will also be significantly reduced to Southeast Asia region.

Cathay Pacific Airways was recently presented with the “World’s Best Airline” award during the 2014 annual Skytrax World Airline Awards.
