Cathay Pacific to renovate Business Class Lounge at Hong Kong

Cathay Pacific Airways recently announced it is closing its Pier Business Class Lounge at Hong Kong International Airport for renovation. The lounge was closed effective from July 1, 2015. The airline will reopen the refurbished lounge in the second quarter of 2016.

A spokesperson of Cathay Pacific Airways also said that the airline''s Pier First Class Lounge has been reopened after refurbishing. The lounge is situated near Gate 63 at Hong Kong International Airport.

Spread in an area of 2,061 sq mtr, the Pier First Class Lounge is currently the largest dedicated first class lounge of the airline. The lounge has a capacity to seat up to 231 premium customers.

The Pier First Class Lounge is equipped with 8 day suites, 3 foot-massage booths, a retreat area featuring 14 showers, a horseshoe-shaped bar, a pantry for “”grab and go”” light bites, a dining room for sit-down  á la carte, a bureau with 6 Mac workstations, and a library.

The lounge has been described by travel experts as a “”contemporary apartment””. It has been refurbished on the similar lines of Cathay Pacific Airways'' new lounges in Bangkok, Manila and Tokyo Haneda.

The eight suites in the retreat area are being offered to the premium customers on a first-come, first-served basis. Each suite is equipped with a daybed, reading light and curtains for added privacy. The suites also have a large window offering fascinating views of the runway.

The lounge also has adequate number of power ports within arm''s reach of the passengers. The USB and power sockets are built into drawers and positioned next to the seats. Another prominent feature at the lounge include a bespoke mobile device equipped with an app for notifying flight details, gate changes and boarding time to the passengers.
