EVA Air bags Best Business Class Cellar title

Taiwanese carrier EVA Air has been commended for its excellent service provided to business class customers. The airline’s wine offerings have been adjudged as the best by a panel of wine experts during the recently-concluded annual Cellars in the Sky 2015 competition conducted by the prestigious Business Traveller Magazine.

EVA Air has won top awards in two categories and placed second in another category. Taiwan’s second largest carrier was awarded Gold Medals in two categories – “Best Business Class Cellar” and “Best Business Class Red Wine”. A Silver Medal was also won by the airline in the “Best Business Class Sparkling Wine” category.

The Red Wine which emerged as the winner by the airline was The Islander Estate Old Rowley 2014 from South Australia. The contender in Sparkling Wine category was Champagne de Castelnau Brut 2002, JM Cazes Selection, France. After winning the competition an enthused EVA Air official said that the wines served by the airline in its Business Class, Premium Laurel and Royal Laurel cabins are indeed exceptional and quite enjoyable. The award-winning wines are procured by the airline from top wineries across the globe.

This is not the first time that EVA Air has won top honors by Business Traveller Magazine. The airline had earlier been awarded two Gold Medals for wine tasting competition by the magazine in 2013. The airline was then presented awards for “Best Business Class White” and “Best Business Class Sparkling Wine”.

Business Traveller Magazine had been conducting the International Wine Challenge competition every year. This was the 30th edition of the renowned competition. During the competition held last summer Business Traveller Magazine had invited the leading airlines from around the world to participate in the competition. A total of 35 airlines took part and entered exclusive wines from their respective in-flight service cellars. The participants were judged by a panel of experts for serving wines in First Class and Business Class. The competition was held in Sparkling, White, Red and Fortified/Dessert categories. The airlines were also presented awards for the Best Cellar for each cabin and Best Presented Wine List.
