Finnair and US Airways announce codeshare from late July

Finnair and US Airways, both partners of oneworld, are entering into a codeshare agreement. This will allow passengers to travel seamlessly using the services of both the airlines on select European and transatlantic flights. Passengers can start booking their tickets n codeshare flights from July 24, 2014.

Under this codeshare US Airways will place its code of flights operated by Finnair from Toronto, Miami and JFK to Helsinki and beyond, to 11 European destinations including Stockholm, Brussels, Zurich and Oslo. In turn, Finnair passengers will be able to fly conveniently using US Airways flights from Charlotte, JFK, and Philadelphia to several European cities including London, Dublin, Manchester, Rome and Paris.

As part of this agreement frequent flyer members of Finnair’s Plus and US Airways’ Dividend Miles will be able to redeem and earn miles irrespective of the airline operating the flight. The Dividend Miles balance can also be used for Cathay Pacific, British Airways, and Qantas flights.

On June 4, 2014, US Airways expanded codeshare partnership with British Airways that covers seven European destinations through London Heathrow. Also on July 10, 2014, Finnair introduced reciprocal codeshare with SriLankan Airlines. This codeshare covers services between Finland and Sri Lanka.

Finnair has been awarded the best Northern European airline at the World Airline Awards conducted by Skytrax on July 15, 2014 held in New York. The airline received this award for five consecutive years. The award was based on survey feedback received from 18 million travelers from over 160 countries. The survey included over 200 airlines and 40 areas of measurement standards.
