Hotel business booming in Sacramento

Hotel scene in Sacramento is quite upbeat in recent times. Media reports recently said that hotels in the city have reported high occupancy rates thus proving that the city is getting visitors, tourists and corporate travelers in large numbers.

A U.S.-based research firm while revealing the latest performance figures said that hotel business in the city is thriving. The study said that it’s not only government and business travel, but even weekends have become quite busier.

According to the study, the hotels in Sacramento reported occupancy rate of 79 percent in the month of March this year. The occupancy was up from 75.3 percent when compared to the same month in 2014.

The study said that in order to achieve occupancy of 79 percent the hotels are required to sell out hotel rooms four days a week and on the other three days they should be more than half full.

The hotels in the city have many times been far less than half empty during the weekends. The high occupancy rate has now indicated that the city hotels are receiving tourists, visitors and business travelers significantly.

The room rates have also been increased with higher occupancies. The average rate of hotel rooms in March was $113.36, which showed an increase of 6.4 percent when compared to March 2014.

The study concluded that the hotels in Sacramento are still a great bargain in comparison to major markets in Northern California. In San Francisco, the average rate for hotel rooms in March was $258.84 with occupancy rate of 85 percent. San Jose was cheaper than San Francisco where average room rate was $199 with 82.3 percent occupancy during the same month.
