Japan Airlines to begin Tokyo-Boston service from April 2012

Jun 16, 2011

Japan Airlines (JAL) recently announced that it will be launching a non-stop service between Tokyo and Boston from April 2012. The airline said that it will be deploying Boeing B787 Dreamliner to ferry passengers between Tokyo Narita International Airport and Boston Logan International Airport.

Initially, the non-stop service would start with four flights a week, departing Tokyo on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Later on, it will become a daily service effective June 1, 2012.

JAL expects to receive the aircraft from its manufacturer Boeing in either August or September.

With the launch of its Tokyo-Boston service, JAL will become the only carrier to directly link Asia and Boston thus facilitating travel to and from cities in the US’ New England area. Boston will also become the sixth US gateway to be served by JAL after New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Honolulu.

According to JAL officials, the American Airlines will codeshare on this flight.
