JetBlue Airways expanding premium Mint service to the Caribbean

JetBlue Airways is all set to bring its new premium Mint services to the Caribbean. The airline introduced the service during its summer schedule in 2014. The service is similar to that of business class and is exclusively designed for business travelers.

As part of its business class travel experience, the airline is offering private suites in its new Mint class. The airline is also offering the longest beds in the U.S. domestic market in comparison to other carriers in the country. The customers are also offered a tapas-style menu as well.

Media reports said that JetBlue Airways will be offering Mint service to Barbados and Aruba from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). JetBlue Airways will also become the only domestic carrier in the United States to offer lie-flat seating on its regular scheduled service to the Caribbean. The Mint service is presently being offered only on transcontinental flights to San Francisco and Los Angeles from New York JFK.

The reports attribute the choice of Caribbean destinations of Aruba and Barbados by the airline because they are considered to be favorites among leisure tourists. JetBlue Airways finally decided to introduce Mint service to the two Caribbean destinations after regularly tracking the passenger demand to the two islands and also based on the data from the U.S. Department of Transportation.

JetBlue Airways will be offering roundtrip Mint service to Barbados and Aruba once every Saturday starting from November 7, 2015 through April 30, 2016. The airline will be offering Mint service once daily between December 19, 2015 and January 4, 2016 during the holiday season. The two routes will be served utilizing an Airbus A321 aircraft.

Marty St. George, JetBlue Airways’ Executive Vice President of Commercial and Planning, said, “The two Caribbean destinations of Barbados and Aruba have high-end leisure premium demand. Offering Mint service to the two islands is also a practical idea as it has been designed for a nearly five-hour flight. The Mint service is also therefore being introduced on longer routes.”

JetBlue Airways is also planning to expand Mint service to other destinations as well. The airline is now actively considering offering Mint experience on Boston-Los Angeles or Boston-San Francisco routes in future.
