JetBlue Airways new Fort Lauderdale-Mexico City flights Oct 1

New York-based low cost carrier JetBlue Airways recently announced it will be launching new nonstop flights to Mexico City from Fort Lauderdale and Orlando starting from October 1, 2015.  The airline in a statement said that Mexico City will now become its 35th destination in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Dave Clark, JetBlue Airways’ Vice President - Network Planning, said, “The airline, which has already established its leadership in Latin America and the Caribbean, had for long been planning to include Mexico City in its international network. This has come at a time when JetBlue Airways is trying to grow further and expand in Florida, particularly its hub airports in Orlando and Fort Lauderdale.”

The airline said that it will be operating daily flight services between Mexico City International Airport (MEX) and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). The nonstop flights from Fort Lauderdale will depart in the evening and the return flight from Mexico City will be in the morning. Similar flight schedule will be applicable for nonstop flights between Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Mexico City.

JetBlue Airways has also announced that it will be launching new nonstop flights to Quito from Fort Lauderdale. The flights to the capital city of Ecuador are likely to be launched in the first quarter of 2016 after getting approval from the government. The airline is currently operating 85 daily flights from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, and is planning to boost the number of daily flights services to 100 by the year 2017.
