Korean Air into talks with Delta Air Lines to expand decade-old marketing joint venture
Korean Air wants to expand its flights services to United States and is currently making efforts to further strengthen its partnership with leading U.S. carrier Delta Air Lines.
Korean Air recently disclosed that it is holding talks with Delta Air Lines and finding out ways on how to expand its decade-old marketing joint venture.
Media reports said that the discussions between Korean Air and Delta Air Lines indicate that both the carriers have solidified their relations and trying to benefit out of their partnership.
Delta Air Lines had earlier unsuccessfully attempted to purchase a stake in Japan Airlines two years ago. Had Delta Air Lines succeeded in its attempt, then the focus would have shifted to Tokyo at the expense of Seoul. Japan Airlines has, however, decided to continue its partnership with Delta Air Line’s rival American Airlines.
Media reports further said that if the partnership between Korean Air and Delta Air Lines strengthens more, then this would be highly beneficial for Delta as it will be able to gain a strong foothold in Asia, which has evaded it so far, when compared to its rival carriers.
