Qatar Airways to serve Mitolo Wines in its business class

Qatar Airways has announced it will be serving the acclaimed Jester Shiraz 2012 wine procured from a South Australian boutique winery Mitolo Wines. The airline will offer this exclusive wine to its customers traveling on business class flights on long-haul international routes.

The Mitolo Wines is family-run business based in South Australia and is renowned for producing McLaren wines. Doha-based Qatar Airways, which is presently a leading airline in the world, will provide the Jester Shiraz 2012 wine between October 2015 and March 2016.

Qatar Airways in a statement said that above 10,000 bottles of Jester Shiraz 2012 wine have already been shipped to the airline’s main hub at Doha. The wine will be served on all the routes being operated by the airline to 140 international destinations, including Chicago, Tokyo, London and Johannesburg. 

The Jester Shiraz 2012 is a full-flavored wine having dark fruit flavors of blackberry and plum. It is priced at $25. The much-acclaimed wine emerged a winner in James Halliday’s Australian Wine Companion 2015. The wine was also awarded in Matthew Juke’s 100 Best Australian Wines of 2013/14. 
The selection of wines is done through a rigorous process. The airline appoints experts who meet in Germany twice a year. They indulge in blind testing at least 300 wines so that they can handpick vintages from the best wine producers in the world.

The airline regularly changes its wine menu. The current selections being served to the business class passengers include the Erdener Treppchen Spatlese 2008 from Dr Loosen in Germany, Wakefields Down 2011 from Babich Marlborough in New Zealand, and Chassagne-Montrachet 2007 from Albert Bichot in France’s Burgundy region.
