SAS begins all-business class flights on Stavanger-Houston route

Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) recently announced the launch of its all-business class flights between Stavanger and Houston. The flights between the two destinations are aimed to serve the leading players in oil industry in both the cities. The flights became operational from August 20, 2014.

Rickard Gustafson, President and CEO of SAS, said that the Stavanger-Houston route has been particularly launched to address the travel need of a defined market. The favorable schedule being provided on the route will help the customers with seamless and efficient connections throughout Scandinavia from Houston.

Gustafson said that Houston is a major hub for connecting to the south and west such as Phoenix, Dallas, Los Angeles and Mexico with the Star Alliance. The route will therefore help Scandinavian travelers to connect to these U.S. destinations as well.

According to SAS, it is the only airline to provide nonstop flights between Scandinavia and Houston. Providing details about the flight schedule, the airline stated that Flight SK951 will depart from Stavanger at 4 pm and arrive in Houston at 7.40 pm same day. The return flight SK952 will make its departure from Houston at 9.35 pm and reach Stavanger at 2.20 pm next day. The flights to both the destinations will be operated saily except on Tuesdays.

The airline has deployed a business version of Boeing 737-700 aircraft configured with only 44 luxurious business class seats to operate flights on the Stavanger-Houston route. There will be only 11 rows on the aircraft. The customers will be served complimentary three-course meals that come along with warm breads and champagne. The customers will also be provided modern in-flight entertainment system, which will include iPads equipped with dozens of movies.

SAS is presently the third-largest airline providing flights services between Houston and Scandinavia. Nearly 70,000 people take SAS flights annually to connect between the two destinations.
