SAS features new business class cabin on Copenhagen-Newark route

Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) recently introduced its new business class cabin on its Airbus A330 aircraft named “Erik Viking”, which is currently operating between Copenhagen Airport (CPH) and New York’s Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). This is the airline’s first aircraft to showcase new-look interiors on a long-haul route.

The airline said that it is presently upgrading cabins across all classes on its seven long-haul Airbus A330 and A340 aircrafts. The airline will deploy its next upgraded aircraft into service during late March this year and will be operating flights between Stockholm/Oslo and the United States.

The customers booking business class tickets in the airline’s SAS Business cabin can now look forward to a great flying experience. The cabin has been fitted with massage seats in a 1-2-1 configuration. Each seat offers direct aisle access. Among other prominent features include 15-inch IFE screens, folded fully-flat seats with a minimum 77 inch length, a USB port and an individual power outlet.

Apart from its business class, Scandinavian Airlines has also introduced new-look interiors in its premium economy and economy class cabins as well. The airline’s SAS Plus or premium economy cabin has a seat pitch of 37/38 inch in a 2-3-2 configuration. Each seat also offers 12-inch IFE screen for in-flight entertainment. The customers will also be able to make use of the USB port and power outlet that are fitted with each seat as well.

The airline’s economy class cabin or SAS Go is in a 2-4-2 configuration and offers a seat pitch of 31/32 inch. For in-flight entertainment, the customers will be offered a 9-inch IFE screen fitted with each seat. The airline will also be offering individual USB ports and one power outlet per pair of seats.

Scandinavian Airlines also indicated that it is looking forward to the delivery of four new Airbus A330-300 aircrafts this year and in 2016 as well. The airline also expects to receive eight Airbus A350-900 aircrafts from 2018 onwards.
