Southwest Airlines dropping flights services to Portland from January 6
Passengers who have so far been enjoying Southwest Airlines flights services to Portland will not be able to do so from next year onwards.
Southwest Airlines recently hinted that it would stop selling its air tickets to Portland from next year as it has decided to stop its flights services here effective January 6, 2012.
According to Spokane International Airport spokesman Todd Woodard the decision of the airline follows its recent announcement to stop flights to Seattle at the start of this year.
Currently, Southwest Airlines is operating two flights services to/from Portland on a daily basis.
After deciding to drop its flights to Portland, Southwest Airlines would now make efforts to reconfigure its service and focus on longer distances to major destinations. Routes like Seattle and Portland were considered to be the shortest flights route on the airline’s network.
Despite discontinuing flights services to Seattle and Portland, Southwest Airlines will continue to operate flights services to Phoenix, Las Vegas, Oakland, Denver and Boise.
