SWISS becomes first “allergy-friendly” airline in the world

Swiss International Air Lines or SWISS has added a feather to its cap. Switzerland’s national carrier has now become the world’s first “allergy-friendly” airline. The European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation (ECARF) certified the airline “allergy-friendly” after it successfully met the criteria. SWISS will now be able to place the ECARF seal of approval on its products.

The airline had been working with the ECARF for quite some years now for providing customized products for travelers who are prone to allergies. After ECARF certification, SWISS will now be able to introduce innovative products and services aimed at providing comfort for allergy sufferers during the course of their travel.

A spokesperson of SWISS indicated that the airline will start offering gluten-free and lactose-free food and beverages on board all its flights starting from May this year. The airline will be offering popular SWISS chocolate bar which will be lactose-free. The allergy-prone passengers will also be offered lactose-free coffee cream.

Aiming to keep its customers happy, the airline said that the passengers with allergies and other similar medical conditions will also be provided special snacks such as cakes, yoghurt or candy bars upon request. The airline said that it is fully committed to take care of its customers suffering from allergic conditions.

The airline stated that the allergy sufferers are presently required to order special meals according to their specific needs up to 24 hours prior to their scheduled departure. This is applicable on all classes on long-haul international flights as well as in Business Class on European routes.
