SWISS standardizes baggage regulations for all flights
Jul 16, 2011
The baggage regulations for all SWISS flights across the world are being standardized. The “piece concept”, now applicable on SWISS North Atlantic flights, will be extended to the baggage provisions systemwide for all its services. The new baggage regulations will be applicable on all tickets booked on or after August 1, 2011.
However, carry-on baggage rules will remain unchanged on all SWISS flights.
The new baggage regulations will increase the free baggage allowance for passengers availing SWISS services within Europe as well as long-haul flights to Africa or Asia.
Key changes:
- Economy Class: Now 1 piece of up to 23 kilos (currently any number of pieces up to a combined total of 20 kilos).
- Business Class: Now 2 pieces of up to 32 kilos each, i.e. a maximum total of 64 kilos (currently any number of pieces up to a combined total of 30 kilos.
- First Class: Now 3 pieces of up to 32 kilos each, i.e. a maximum total of 96 kilos (currently any number of pieces up to a combined total of 40 kilos).
All pieces in all three classes must not exceed total dimensions (length + width + height) of 158 cm.
