United Airlines to increase frequencies to China during summer

Chinese cities are bracing to welcome more visitors to the United States during the summer season. Prominent U.S. carrier United Airlines has announced it is ramping up its capacity to China in order to efficiently cope up with the growing passenger demand.

Shanghai and Chengdu will be the two major cities in China where the airline will provide seamless connectivity with increased frequencies. United Airlines will be doubling its services to Shanghai with twice daily flights to be operated from San Francisco effective from May 6 through October 24 this year.

The airline also said that it will start a daily service between Chengdu and San Francisco. The airline is presently operating thrice weekly flights to Chengdu. This service is now being increased to daily starting from June 4 through September 1.  

The airline will be operating a Boeing 777-200 aircraft on both Shanghai-San Francisco and Chengdu-San Francisco routes. The passengers booking business class tickets would be offered 40 flat-bed seats in its United Business First cabin. However, those traveling in the United Global First cabin would be provided 8 flat-bed seats. The aircraft will have a capacity to carry 269 passengers on a flight.

Earlier, the thrice-weekly flights to Chengdu were launched by United Airlines in 2014. This was the airline’s first nonstop trans-Pacific service to mainland China from the United States outside of Shanghai or Beijing. The airline has been serving China since it first started its service in 1986. The airline is providing direct flights to both West and East coast round the year, including flights to Hong Kong as well.
